On the eve of Valentine's Day this year, 2004, Vangie and I joined 5,121 other couples in breaking the Guinness world record  in the most number of kissing couples. Organized by Closeup toothpaste and the city government of Manila, the event was named Lova Palooza. Three stages were set up along Roxas Boulevard (from Grand Boulevard Hotel to Diamond Hotel with the middle stage near the Malate church) to entertain the participants and others who joined to witness the event. At exactly midnight, all the couples kissed for ten seconds to break the previous world record made by Chile earlier this year.

Registering for the event via the internet, we got an email from the organizer confirming our participation. We had dinner first at Cosa Nostra, a small Italian restaurant near the Adriatico Circle in Malate, Manila. It has only about 6 or 7 tables and I guess could accommodate not more than 30 people at one time.

Thousand of couples lock their lips for 10 seconds to set a new world record in the most number of couples kissing in one place.
